The only public transport in the
city is by tuk-tuk. The price is about 50 baht per person to anywhere around
the city centre.
Some tuk-tuk drivers will ask for more than 50 baht per person, but you can normally bargain with them to get a more reasonable price. When you are bargaining, smile and be patient and polite, try not to get angry as they will not budge on their price if you do.
A trip to or from the Friendship Bridge can cost 80 baht for tourists if only one passenger is on board.
Another good way to get around Nong Khai and the surrounding area is by bicycle. Some of the guesthouses and a few rental places around town offer bicycles for 30-50 baht a day, and motorbikes for about 250 baht a day. You may be able to negotiate a lower price for a long term rental. A good place to try is the rental stand outside the Mut Mee guesthouse, or Limmanee motor on Meechai Road.
